I'm a member of a number of facebook groups that all fall under the umberella term of Photography. Through the daily postings that appear on my newsfeed many seem to be slow shutter speed images of rocky sea shores or sandy beeches. They all resemble the artistic interpretations of a methane sea on some Jovian moon.

As picturesque as these are, and bearing in mind their authors regard them with a not an altogether undeserved pride; for they involve time and effort to create; they do have that feel of becoming staid and over-done. I'm not exactly sure why they are so prevailant; It could be the effective marketing of some very expensive neutral density filters.
